I hope more reliable/specific mods for the Sims 3 come out soon :(
I'm using the Awesomemod but there are some bugs in it that bother me. Most notably the random crashes at startup and how oh bloody hell there is spoiled food CARPETING THE FLOOR at one of the public pools, I know it's just graphics in a game but I still find it quite disgusting. I'm actually surprised EA didn't program in a cleanup crew or something for the community lots considering how littered they get.
Anyway one of the things the Awesomemod does is allow you to create families without an adult included, so you can have teenagers or children living on their own if you like. One of the new features in the Sims 3 is that you can make ghosts playable. So I decided that I wanted to create a nutty teenager who lives all by himself in a run-down shack (or as run-down as you can make things in the Sims 3) who doesn't talk to anybody except the ghost of his dead sister.
Except the Opportunity to make her playable never came up. So I went onto the official forus and it turns out that all viable Opportunities for a Sim, depending on their skills, job and whatever, are thrown into a pool and pulled out randomly. So a Sim is way more likely to get the resurrection Opportunity if s/he has no job and no skills. They also suggested turning motives static (so he wouldn't get hungry, etc.) and going onto fast-forward until the Opportunity pops up. (I could have sworn there was a forceopportunity code, but I couldn't find it.)
Well, since my Sim is a teenager and thus required to attend high school and there are school-related Opportunities, he wasn't getting the resurrection one. So I decided to make him and his sister adults and just change them using the editsim cheat after the fact to make them teenagers. So I make the sister a teenager before I killed her and used the aforementioned technique. Except when she came back up to haunt the place, they were strangers and no longer related because of the age difference. And you need to be at least friends with a ghost to resurrect them, apparently. And that's when I said fuck it and turned the game off.
Bawwwww they shouldn't make it this hard for me to make the stories I want to bawwww bawwwwwwwww
It also turns out the Pyromaniac hidden trait is really lame. Not only does the fire they start not spread, but it doesn't do any damage and goes out by itself after a few seconds. What's the fucking point, then? >:C
